There are times when you may need to reset linksys router. Perhaps you have forgotten the control panel password or other custom settings or maybe after phoning your broadband provider they have told you to carry this out.
Resetting your Linksys router is really easy and by performing these operations you will be restoring the factory defaults of the router just as they were when it was purchased.
You will need a paper clip / pin / small pen. Thats all, nothing else is needed.
Unfold the paper clip so that one section is completely straight.
On the back of your linksys router ( where the network cables plug in ) you will see a small hole ( usually with the word reset printed on a sticker or actually on the plastic case itself ) and this is where you will be pushing in your paper clip.
1. Turn off the power to the linksys router.
2. Insert the straightened paper clip into the reset hole of the linksys router and you will feel that it presses a small button inside the router. Keep the pressure on the paper clip to ensure the button remains pressed.
3. Switch on the power to the router ensuring that the paper clip continues to press the reset button in the router.
4. After 10 seconds release the pressure on the paper clip so that it releases the reset button and remove the paper clip from the router reset hole.
You should now see the lights on the router start to flash as the router reboots with all the settings reset to default.
Wait for a couple of minutes to ensure the linksys router has rebooted and then try to access the linksys router control panel with the default settings, 192.168.1.1 username = admin and password = admin.
