Looking to get your Netgear mr814v2 working with Microsoft Windows Vista?
The Netgear mr814 is a Cable/DSL modem for working with cable broadband suppliers such as Virgin Media. This is not to be confused with ADSL broadband services such as those provided by BT for example.
Cable broadband is provided via a COAX cable which terminates at a Cable broadband modem supplied by your broadband provider.
The Netgear MR814 connects to the broadband cable modem using a standard network cable and should be provided in one of the boxes. Look for a cable which has an RJ45 network connector at each end. Connect one end of the cable into the back of your cable modem and the other into the DSL/WAN socket of the Netgear router. Connect the power adapter to the Netgear mr814 and plug it in and switch on. Once switched on the Netgear router will perfom some checks and be ready for use in a couple of minutes.
Connect your Windows Vista computer or Laptop to the router using a standard network cable. Power on the computer or laptop and allow windows vista to load. If required to do so enter your password when prompted.
You should now be online. Confirm this by opening a web browser, such as Internet Explorer and in the address bar type http://www.google.co.uk/
No drivers are needed to enable windows vista to work with the Netgear mr814v2. If you are connecting wirelessly then you may need a driver for your wireless key or adapter. Go to the manufacturers website and look for a vista driver.
