If you have a compaq cq60 and you plug in the charger and there are no light ( charging ) and it does not power on when the battery is flat dont jump in and automatically assume its the power connector on the laptop.
Even if it exhibits the classic symptoms in that when you plug the charger lead into the laptop it will be very loose.
First you should try another charger to see if this powers the laptop. The chargers are quite common and you should have a friend or relative who has the same charger with ease.
This laptop has a fly-leaded power connector / dc jack meaning that the power connector is not soldered onto the laptop motherboard.
Just because it is loose does not mean it is broken. If you jump in then you will waste time stripping the laptop down to the motherboard.
The plastic securing the dc jack into the laptop base is easily broken by a drop, knock etc and if broken this will allow the power connector to wiggle.
By all means strip down the laptop to repair ( using a strong super glue ) the plastic in this area.
We have had a few in exhibiting these symptoms and on each one the charger turned out to be faulty.
For reference the charger part number is: 381090-001 and the charger model number is PA-1650-02
If you do need a dc jack the hp part number for this is: 50.4H514.001 which comes complete with the flylead and motherboard connector.
