Coming into your house you will have a COAX cable which terminates at a cable broadband modem supplied by Virgin Media.
On the back of the broadband cable modem will be an RJ45 network connector, connect this to the DSL socket on your Netgear router using a standard ethernet cable which will have two RJ45 connectors at each end. This cable should be provided with your Netgear router.
Plug the netgear power supply into the router and mains and switch on. Allow a couple of minutes for the Netgear router to initialise itself, carry out some test and be ready for use.
Connect a computer or laptop to the Netgear router via a network cable.
On the computer load your favourite web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, in the browser's address bar type - http://192.168.0.1/
You will now see a page asking for a username and password. Type admin into the username field and type password into the password field then press the return key on your keyboard.
You will now see the Netgear router configuration menu. You should not need to change many settings to get the Netgear router to work with your Virgin Media broadband. Ensure that you are obtaining your ip address automatically. Save the settings and reboot.
Restart your computer and the next time you load your web browser you should be online.
