When trying to access a network share ( this could have also been previously mapped as a network drive - in which case you will receive the unable to reconnect mapped drive message ) an error is reported system error 2221 has occurred. This does not give much information away as to what the problem might be. You are able to ping the ip address and this returns packets correctly. There are two solutions we have found useful. First try clearing your stored passwords for this network share by completing the following: Start -> control panel -> user accounts -> advanced -> manage passwords -> select entries matching the ip address of the machine name of the network share and click remove. Then you can OK all the way back to the control panel and close it. Try to access the network share again and enter your username and password. If that failes and you are running Microsoft Windows XP Professional then in the security policy manager set the network security to use LM if negotiated.
