You will need the following to retrieve your wireless key on your netgear router;
- A laptop or a desktop computer.
- A network cable also known as a patch cable.
- Your netgear wireless router for which you need to retrieve the wireless key.
Make sure your wireless router is switched on. Connect your laptop or desktop to your wireless router using the network cable. On the back of the wireless router you should see up to four network sockets in which you plug one ond of your network cable and the other end is plugged into your laptop or desktop. It does not matter which network socket you use on the back of the router.
Power on your laptop or desktop and open a web browser.
In the browser address bar type http://192.168.0.1/ and then press return.
You will be asked to authenticate yourself, the defaul username and password for a netgear wireless router is:
Username: admin
Password: password
Once you have entered these details and clicked ok/login then you will see the wireless router control panel in your web browser.
Choose the menu option 'Wireless' by left clicking on it then choose the 'Wireless Security' option from the menu on the left hand side.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will see your wireless router password. Take a note of the password.
You have now found your wireless network key for your netgear wireless router.
