Dell GX620 Drivers for Windows XP Downloads
In our case a hard drive failure caused the need for a replacement and a fresh installation of Windows XP Professional.
After the fresh Windows XP installation almost all of the drivers are missing.
The first problem is to install the network adapter so that you can get it on the internet and get the rest of the drivers. We stuck a mobile broadband dongle into the computer and used that to get online to get the network driver from the dell website. Once you have network up and running then you can connect via a network cable and get the rest of the drivers.
The network driver required is Broadcom Gigabit NetXtreme 57XX Gigabit Controller.
If you happen to have mobile broadband up and running visit the Dell Driver Download website, enter your service tag and scroll down to the network driver section. If you dont have mobile broadband then download the Broadcom Gigabit NetXtreme 57XX Driver here and transfer it over using a USB flash drive.
Once you have downloaded the network driver and installed it connect your GX620 to the network and revisit the dell driver download page, enter your service tag and you will see the list of drivers available. The next driver to get is the Intel Chipset Driver. After installing the chipset driver you will need to reboot. After the reboot you will be down to 3 missing drivers ( 2 graphics and 1 audio ).
From the dell drivers website, download the graphics driver which is an Intel 945G. Run the installation file and 8 clicks and a restart you will have a good screen resolution and be down to 1 driver.
The audio hardware fitted to the GX620 is an Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio. Download the driver from the dell website and install it.
Once installed you will now have installed all the drivers needed.
Dont forget to uninstall your mobile broadband if you used that to get the ethernet driver.
Once you are at this stage you may wish to consider installing windows updates ( you may need a few cycles to get them all ) and some antivirus and firewall software.
