Solve Dell SX280 Computer Motherboard Over Heating Problem.

You may experience your computer switching off on its own instantly or you may notice that after so many minutes of use the computer switches off.

Due to its compact nature the Dell DCTR SX280 USFF can under certain conditions get a build up of dust and dirt on its heatsink. This causes heat to build up and eventually the computer will shut down.

The instant shut down can cause data loss or just general inconvenience when this happens.

However this problem is easy to solve. Remove the cover from your SX280 DCTR computer. There is a little catch on the back, twist it and the cover will slide off towards the front of the computer.

A blue shroud covers the processor and heatsink assembly on the motherboard and simply pops off. Place the cover in a safe place.

You will now be able to see the copper heatsink.

Examine the heatsink fins for dust and dirt build up. If the fins are clogged then using a soft paintbrush you can remove the dust clear of the heatsink fins.

Once done, replace the blue shroud and then put the cover back on. Connect the DCTR USFF computer back up and power it on. Your problem should now be solved.
